With the raising of the National Flag of the Republic of Bulgaria in front of the monument of the Unknown Warrior and bowing as a sign of adoration to those who died for national liberation and unification, the celebrations of the Third of March in Sofia began. Representative units of the National Guard unit with the sacred flags and the Guard Representative Brass Band participated in the ritual.
In the presence of Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel, Deputy Minister of Defense Stanimir Georgiev, Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov and Mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev, the Bulgarian tribagrenik was raised to the sounds of the anthem of the Republic of Bulgaria. In honor of the National Day, an artillery salute of 20 volleys was produced.
Wreaths and flowers were laid in front of the monument to the Unknown Warrior in the capital. The solemn ritual was attended by ministers, people’s representatives, senior officers of the Bulgarian army, clergy, representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the military-patriotic unions, many citizens.
At 12:00 p.m., a ceremonial changing of the guard of honor took place in front of the President’s Administration building.
Military personnel from the Bulgarian Army participated in the celebrations on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria throughout the country. They paid military honors to the heroes who died for the freedom of the Motherland and presented wreaths and flowers.
The solemn inspection (dawn) in honor of the 146th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the National Assembly Square. It will be attended by the Guard’s representative brass band and representative units of the National Guard unit, as well as military personnel from the Joint Forces Command. The commander of the solemn inspection (dawn) is Brigadier General Dimitar Khlebarov – commander of the Command for Communication and Information Support and Cyber Defense (KIPKO).
